Tokyo duo Tenniscoats appeared at Cross St for one of only two national performances, a special concert organised by the Audio Foundation for their ongoing Altmusic series.

Known for their "staggeringly free approach," Tenniscoat's Saya and Takashi Ueno combine the sounds of the avant-garde with accessible pop songs; knitting together psychedelic folk tunes, complex instrumentals and short pop jewels into highly listenable vignettes.

Tenniscoats were supported by Xe, a collaboration between local musicians Rachel Shearer, Dean Roberts, Sean O'Reilly and Gut Treadgold.
