Eugene Chadbourne

As part of his national tour, American musician and polemicist Eugene Chadbourne brought his "incendiary brand of electrified be-bop hillbilly improv" to Cross St Studios, courtesy of promoter Vitamin S.

Chadbourne's performance featured his eccentric invention: the Electric Rake, a gardening tool fitted with electrical pickups, alongside his distinctive improvised banjo playing. For the Tāmaki Makaurau show, he was joined by local musicians John Radford, Nigel Gavin and Phil Dadson.
