Shifting City Sound Plains
Shifting City Sound Plains was an exceptional project, supported by a SOUNZ Community Commission, that brought together a collective of sound artists and musicians for a week-long field recording workshop, focused on capturing Tāmaki Makaurau's urban acoustic environment.
As the project's culmination, this concert at Cross St Studios featured a 30-minute improvised Musique Concrète performance presenting the recordings gathered during the week.
The evening also included a premiere quartet performance by Phil Dadson, James McCarthy, Sam Morrison and Clinton Philips, and an electro-acoustic performance by Dion Workman, an artist who had recently returned to Aotearoa after a decade in New York.
