The Cohabitation Project Part One: Urban Sacrifices

Urban Sacrifices was the first instalment of a two-part project presented by The Fanny Waterman Collective that explored the tensions, the drudgery of interpersonal relations, and the necessary urban sacrifices of contemporary city living.

Described as a "genre mixing show" that took a tilt at everything from stand-up comedy to opera, the performance followed a series of overlapping stories about individuals connected to the city's "lost needs."

Urban Sacrifices was conceived by Jess Haugh, who was a regular contributor to Cross St Studios' programming. Haugh's involvement included co-curating several Cinema Obscura events, performing live for the inaugural Newton Gully Screen Society event (April 2008), and staging the play The Singularity (November 2009).
