Newton Gully Screen Society at Wine Cellar 2
The second event in this series, curated by the Newton Gully Screen Society, presented the BBC's globally acclaimed Planet Earth (2006) documentary on high-definition Blu-Ray, a choice that was outside of the programme’s usual remit of cult classics and genre films. For this screening, audience members were invited to vote on the specific disc shown to determine the night's content.
For its 2008 Spring season, the Newton Gully Screen Society offered a series of six free film screenings, presented every second Wednesday in the back room of The Wine Cellar, off Karangahape Rd. Organised in collaboration with The Dust Palace, this initiative continued NGSS' mission to bring a range of cinematic experiences to the public, building on the earlier Cinema Obscura events held at Cross St Studios, curated by Sean Monro.
