Woman vs. Moustache
–
Curated by Hazel Davies, Woman vs. Moustache was a week-long exhibition featuring multimedia work by young, women-identifying artists.
The show used the moustache as a symbol of perceived gender barriers—actions traditionally reserved for men—, subverting this notion to explore the nature of the female gaze in contrast to the sexual male gaze (i.e., was the female gaze romantic, relational, curious?).
The exhibition also included interactive elements, such as a paper moustache with every catalogue, and live music during the opening.
