Auckland Zinefest '09
Co-organised by collective members Nicholas J. Boyd and Tessa Stubbing, Auckland Zinefest '09 was the city's first festival celebrating Tāmaki Makaurau's DIY and self-publishing communities.
Hosted by MC Bridget Walsh, the intensive, one-day programme included zine stalls, a documentary screening of $100 and a T-shirt, and educational workshops on cut-and-paste practices and alternative binding.
The afternoon featured talks from zine-makers and writers like Bryce Galloway (Incredibly Hot Sex) and Alex Mitcalfe Wilson (speaking on zines as "freedom of expression"), concluding with the Zine of the Year Award and the grand opening of the Cross St Zine Library.
