The Bang Bang Caravel 3
Audiences attending the third instalment of The Bang Bang Caravel were treated to a lineup of highly eclectic forms of entertainment.
The night included impromptu performances by the group O.T.T.; the "two minute madness" of Pinsineedles (also known as Stitches); the vocal harmony of Disciples (Junior’s Barbershop Quartet); the sonic experiments of duo Doctor Doctor; and original live music from Eritrea and Ethiopia by Teklit. Visual artist and Cross St Studios member Josca Craig-Smith also exhibited new work for the occasion.
The Bang Bang Caravel was an immersive, multi-disciplinary series, presented as part of the Auckland Fringe Festival across four consecutive Saturdays, open to audiences on a koha (donation) basis. Taking inspiration from the classic variety show format, the Caravel featured a wonderfully strange collection of original theatre, live music, short film, visual art and unpredictable performances—all described as being “as curious as the sea”.
